How do I “stack” grants?

It is possible to stack grant funding. Candidly, this requires a high level of funding expertise – this isn’t somewhere you want to make a mistake! Stacking rules are source-specific and generally stacked funds cannot come from the same source.  Failure to abide by the following rules can result in the loss of one or more funding opportunities: 

1. Stacked funds must come from different sources if being used on the same project, i.e. one federal and one provincial source, or one provincial and one private source. 

1. Secured funding cannot exceed program-specific contribution limits, i.e. a program coverage limit could be 75% of total project cost, or up to 100% allowing you to stack a 75% coverage and 25% coverage grant.
